Two ways in
These run entirely inside the page you're reading, using the session you're already signed in with — no password is stored anywhere, and nothing is sent to any server but your own.
On a phone
Chrome for Android won't let you edit a bookmark's address any more, so bookmarklets can't be installed there at all. Use this instead — it's nicer anyway, because it puts a real button on the page.
- Install Firefox for Android, then add Violentmonkey from its add-ons menu. (Tampermonkey works too.)
- Tap the button below. Violentmonkey will offer to install it.
- Open Kobo Press once in that same browser. The script notices the app and remembers where it is — that's the whole setup.
- Now open an article. A blue Send to Kobo button sits in the bottom corner. Tap it.
Works on desktop Firefox and Chrome too, with the same extension.
The ⌖ button beside it does the same job as "Pick region": tap it, then tap the article text, and it remembers which part of that site's pages to capture from. You only need it if the automatic guess grabs the wrong thing.
Or, with no setup at all: select the text, then Share → Kobo Press. You get the page's furniture along with the article, but you can trim it in the app.
On a computer
Drag both of these onto your bookmarks bar:
How to use it
- Highlight text first and "Send to Kobo" captures exactly that. Nothing else needed.
- Nothing highlighted? It uses the region you saved with "Pick region" for that site.
- Never picked one? It guesses, by finding the block with the most paragraph text.
For a multi-part volume: set Captured text → Append in the app, then capture message 1, go back, capture message 2, and so on. Each arrives as a new chapter and the whole volume goes across as one book. Your draft is saved between visits.

If a site blocks it
A few sites set a Content Security Policy strict enough to stop bookmarklets in Firefox. Chrome generally allows them. If "Send to Kobo" does nothing at all, highlight the text and use the share sheet instead, or copy and paste into the app directly — the converter doesn't care how the text arrives.
